Working together — saving lives, reducing harm
Trained volunteers. Prepared 4x4s.
On call for the Midlands.
MROC 4x4 Response is managed by a team of voluntary 4x4 vehicle owners who offer their time, vehicles and equipment to statutory agencies and voluntary organisations, to assist in any civil emergency where four-wheel-drive vehicles are needed.
What we can provide
- Transport and logistical support in bad weather, emergencies or major incidents
- Area search and evacuation assistance
- Welfare checks on stranded motorists
- Critical staff transfers
- Vehicle support — escort and support for your vehicles and crews
We respond only to requests from statutory or voluntary agencies. We cannot respond to calls directly from members of the public.
Who we work with
Part of the region's emergency plans
Since the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, every local authority has been required to keep detailed plans for emergencies — severe weather, flooding, utility failures, transport incidents and more. Those plans must include the emergency services, utility companies and voluntary organisations. That is where we come in.
We work in partnership with the local authorities of Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire (as CSW Resilience) and Birmingham (Birmingham Resilience), and we are a member group of the national Response network of volunteer 4x4 teams.
What that looks like
Tasks can include transporting people and equipment through floodwater or snow, towing, radio and public-awareness vehicles, missing-person searches and road closures. Every volunteer trains in off-road driving, recovery, towing, winching and radio procedure, and every vehicle is road-legal, taxed, insured and MOT'd.
Our aim is a respected group of experienced volunteers, with strong links between the group, local authorities, other Cat 1 and Cat 2 responders and our voluntary partners — offering a quick and efficient response whenever we are asked for help.
