The group is open to members of the Midland Rover Owners Club — there is no further outlay, so you get the club and the response group together. Not a member yet? Join MROC first, then apply here.
What we look for
On the road: awareness of basic convoy driving and safe towing.
Off the road — and this is where training is provided — practical and theoretical knowledge of steep ascents and descents, ridge and rut crossings, gully driving, wading, and basic recovery and towing.
Communication matters as much as driving: a mobile phone for vehicle-to-vehicle and controller contact, a two-way radio (which the group provides), the phonetic alphabet, and the ability to give and navigate to both OS grid references and what3words locations.
